Professional development and non-credit courses

Our professional development courses are currently offered exclusively in French.

Although these are non-credit courses – that is, they do not earn units that count toward a diploma, most of these courses let you earn Continual Education Units (CEUs).

What is a Continual Education Unit (CEU)?

A CEU (UEC in French) attests to 10 hours of participation in a structured training activity, organized and given by a certified organization, offered by competent instructors, and recognized by an evaluation. (Manuel des normes de qualité, SOFEDUC, 2009, p. 6)

At the end of a training activity that meets the SOFEDUC quality standards, you receive an attestation with the “UEC” logo. CEUs are a standardized way of acknowledging the training and professional development activities that adults participate in throughout their lives.

Cégep à distance is an institutional member of the Société de formation et d’éducation continue (SOFEDUC) authorized to issue Continual Education Units (CEUs).

SOFEDUC is the official organization in Canada that certifies organizations and businesses to issue Continual Education Units. It ensure its members uphold high-quality pedagogical and administrative standards, as promoted by the IACET (Internationnal Association for Continuing Education and Training) in 1968.
