{"id":22296,"date":"2025-11-10T16:04:40","date_gmt":"2025-11-10T21:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cegepadistance.ca\/?page_id=22296"},"modified":"2025-12-03T11:45:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T16:45:17","slug":"student-accessibility-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cegepadistance.ca\/en\/home\/studying-at-cegep-a-distance\/services\/student-accessibility-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Accessibility Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you have a diagnosis, you can make use of pedagogical assistance measures and accommodations to support your academic success.<\/p>\n<p>The C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance Student Accessibility Services team is here to welcome you and guide you through this process, as long as you are studying with us.<\/p>\n<h2>List of diagnoses<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Hearing impairment<\/li>\n<li>Visual impairment<\/li>\n<li>Organic impairment<\/li>\n<li>Neurological impairment<\/li>\n<li>Mental health disorder<\/li>\n<li>Physical impairment<\/li>\n<li>Learning impairment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to get assistance measures<\/h2>\n<p>To take advantage of assistance measures, you have to take certain steps.<\/p>\n<p>Here they are, depending on your situation:<br \/>\n<div class=\"lbo-toggle-box\">\n<h3><strong>I AM REGISTERED WITH C\u00c9GEP \u00c0 DISTANCE (without a <em>commandite<\/em> from my CEGEP)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>Be registered in a course at C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance.<\/li>\n<li>Provide proof of diagnosis signed by a healthcare professional who belongs to a recognized professional order.<\/li>\n<li>Submit both the proof of diagnosis AND the completed <i>Authorization to transmit information related to my disability<\/i> form.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/en\/home\/registered-students-access\/official-forms-and-documents\/&quot;\">See our Forms.<\/a><span lang=\"EN-CA\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-CA\">Make an appointment with Student Accessibility Services using the Bookings link that will be sent to you to develop an intervention plan, which you will have to sign and return to us.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lbo-toggle-box\">\n<h3><strong>I AM REGISTERED WITH A <em>COMMANDITE<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;FROM MY CEGEP<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You will have to declare your diagnosis every time you register for a course, and we will contact your CEGEP.<\/p>\n<p>We do not accept intervention plans provided by a student.<br \/>\n<\/div>\n<h2>FAQ<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Can I use the intervention plan from my home CEGEP?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo. Measures granted by another CEGEP are only valid in that CEGEP. However, if you are a <i>commandite<\/i> student, we will contact your home CEGEP to obtain the list of measures that were granted to you, in order to offer, if possible, equivalent accommodations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What accommodations does C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance offer?<\/strong><br \/>\nC\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance offers several types of accommodations, such as additional time for assignments and exams, special software or accessible documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I have the right to additional time in my home CEGEP. Can I have additional time for my written examination here too?<\/strong><br \/>\nIn general, yes. It will depend on the measures specified for your case, however.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do the documents have an expiration date?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo. There is no time limit on documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What kinds of professional assessments are accepted?<\/strong><br \/>\nOnly assessments from professionals who are members of a professional order are accepted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How will I be informed about my measures?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you declared a need when submitting your admission or registration and are admitted, the Student Accessibility Services advisor from C\u00e9gep de Rosemont will send you an intervention plan.
